Job Title: Payroll & Human Resource SpecialistLocation: Vernon, CA (Onsite)
Industry: Food Manufacturing
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll & Human Resource Specialist to join their team. This role will be responsible for processing high-volume, multi-state payroll for 500+ employees while also supporting HR initiatives, including onboarding, employee relations, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end, multi-state payroll for 500+ employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting
- Maintain and update payroll records, tax documents, and employee data
- Partner with the HR Manager to support onboarding, new hire documentation, and orientation processes
- Assist with employee relations matters, including responding to employee inquiries and supporting issue resolution
- Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll and HR processes
- Ensure compliance with company policies and labor laws, particularly in a manufacturing environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams
- 3+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing for high-volume employee populations (500+)
- Experience supporting HR functions such as onboarding and employee relations
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and labor compliance
- Experience creating and improving SOPs and process documentation
- Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, UKG, etc.) and strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Experience in food manufacturing or similar high-volume environments
- CPP certification or HR certification is a plus
