Company Overview
Acton Medical Associates, PC is a primary care medical group practice dedicated to providing high quality, cost-effective medical care to residents of Acton and its surrounding communities.
For fifty years, our professional strength has been our dedicated physicians and staff. We have a pioneering tradition - first in group practice, then preventative medicine and now in managed care. We continue to initiate activities that support our basic mission.
Company History
Acton Medical Associates, PC (hereinafter AMA, PC) was founded by three physicians:
Drs. Edgar D. Bell, Jr., Donnell W. Boardman, and Henry S. Harvey. In 1955, the three partners started the process of constructing the present office at 321 Main Street, which opened in January, 1957.
Over the next 15 years, the Acton/Littleton community grew substantially and AMA, PC grew along with it. In 1960, a crawl space was excavated to install the X-ray room. The first major expansion was completed in 1972, which added eight physicians’ offices and exam rooms, lab, and a business office, now known as Medical Records.
1980 began a decade of dramatic growth and change for AMA, PC. We were one of five medical groups that founded Multi Group Health Plan (Health Maintenance Organization). By 1984, AMA, PC was bursting at the seams. The second major expansion and renovation occurred over the next three years. In 1986, we added 17,000 square feet of clinical office space designated solely for patient care and service. In 1989, AMA, PC became a professional corporation and is now formally called Acton Medical Associates, PC.
Littleton
The Littleton office, located at 592 King Street, was purchased in 1979 and began operations in 1980. The office houses both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and was opened due to the number of patients residing in the Littleton/Westford area. It is equipped with a Laboratory, but no X-ray Department.
Harvard
AMA, PC’s third office was opened in July 1995. The office currently houses both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. The Harvard site is located at 231 Ayer Road, Harvard, MA. This location is equipped with a laboratory and a bone densitometer.
At present, AMA, PC employs nearly two hundred dedicated people who will continue in the pioneering tradition of the original founders to provide high quality health care and peace of mind for all patients.
