Open Sky is seeking a great communicator and a highly organized individual to serve in the full-time position of Human Resources Administrative Specialist.  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the Human Resources field supporting multiple HR functions including recruitment, administration, benefits, employee engagement/relations, and staff development. Open Sky has a large and robust HR team of over 20 staff supporting an agency of 1,200 spread across most of Central Massachusetts. The support we provide for our employees allows them to properly support the individuals we serve!

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about being in a key role supporting 1,200 staff who are working to better the lives of many individuals.  They thrive in a fast-paced environment, are good at thinking critically, and are great at showing empathy when dealing with an employee navigating a complex issue.  They also exhibit Open Sky's commitment to racial equity, justice, diversity, and inclusion in the work they perform.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.  Schedule is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm fully in-office at our Worcester headquarters. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide professional customer service to general inquiries, including verifications of employment.
  • Seek and gather necessary documentation, ensuring proper completion. Maintain personnel files, both electronic and paper/hard copy. Audit for missing or incomplete entries and perform necessary outreach to ensure staff compliance.
  • Maintain and monitor I-9 documents according to proper procedure.  Perform necessary outreach to ensure staff compliance.
  • Ensure all confidential documents are stored securely, and when applicable, dispose of according to protocols.
  • Perform general upkeep of department files including upkeep of documented procedures, guides, and directories.
  • Assist key department leadership with calendar management and scheduling meetings as needed.
  • Write professional letters, guides, documents, and assist with creating presentations.  
  • Provide front desk coverage as backup to receptionist as needed.


Requirements

Must Have:

  • High school diploma/GED/HiSET or equivalent required.  Alternative forms of education may be considered if verifiable.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Office computer skills with Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, and persuasion skills.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality with highly sensitive information.
  • Good time management, organization, professional writing skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Being open to new possibilities, and having an always-learning mindset.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Some college credits completed - working toward a Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, communications, marketing, business administration, or a related field preferred. 
  • Desire to grow within the HR field, and desire to be a part of an agency with a strong mission and values.
  • Comfort with a variety of office databases and common office equipment.
