Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEMA) has an opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Human Resources, the full-time Human Resources Coordinator will provide generalist support to the GSEMA Human Resources team. As a key contributor to the team, the incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day organizational and administrative support for issues related to various human resource functions including, but not limited to, recruiting and onboarding, HRIS, benefits administration, leave of absence, and workers compensation. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who desires to grow their HR career in support of a mission-driven organization.

This is a hybrid role with a home office in GSEMA’s Middleboro, MA office with travel to other council offices or properties as needed. Must have availability to work occasional evenings and weekends based upon the needs of the department.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform administrative services for the council’s human resources functions, including, but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee benefits, and payroll data entry. 
  • Assist with the talent acquisition process by coordinating job postings, conducting reference checks, preparing orientation materials for new hires, and maintaining data.
  • Support the employee separation process by coordinating exiting information and processing benefit terminations. 
  • Process employee verifications and background checks, including CORI and SORI.
  • Provide administrative support regarding employee benefits, including employee enrollment, coverage changes, billing and claim processing, and reconciliation. 
  • Verify I-9 documentation and maintain records.
  • Maintain confidential personnel files and various other Human Resources documentation and logs (hard copy or electronic) in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Run department management reports utilizing ADP and other specified databases.
  • Coordinate meetings including safety committee meetings and others, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Staff “All Hands on Deck” (AHOD) events as needed (some evenings and weekends may be required).

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Education:  Minimum of an associate’s degree; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of generalist HR/administrative experience; recruiting experience, payroll and/or benefit administration experience is a plus.
  • Must possess experience and ability to work in an environment that requires a high level of discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information; exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strict and continual attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials; data entry and communication. 
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Windows and Office software. Experience using ADP and/or Salesforce is highly desirable. 
  • Must possess good customer service, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with diverse individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Capacity to, independently and as part of a team, plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
  • Have the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based upon needs of department.
  • Bi-lingual skill is highly desirable.

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.
